And now it's all about retail...update!

Virtual retail, that is. Because I'd rather have a colonoscopy AND French kiss Carrot Top than enter a store today. I'm all about Internet Shopping, where the shipping is free and the assholes can't talk to you.

I'm sending you to ScaryMommy today because she has the cutest aprons, kitchen gadgets and treats for the kids. I bought Miss D. an adorable retro-cherry-patterned apron to match the one I already own, and she is so excited to wear it. She even told me that when her apron arrived, she wanted us to make apple strudel (I know, I know! I'm fucked, right?) together.

So while I am Googling "apple strudel recipes"...go visit ScaryMommy. Because really, time spent in the kitchen, rolling dough and giggling and making messes and memories with your kids? It's what life is all about.

Goodies!

Forgot to tell you that I'm guest blogging over at The Split Pea today so come check us out! I love Eralda's blog and I bet you will, too!

  4. Internet shopping is where it's at! I could be alone in a mall for 15 minutes and still want to run screaming. Any day of the year, let alone today.

The thought of you and Miss D in matching aprons covered in flour dust makes such a pretty picture. Have fun apple strudeling

Agree about the mall today...well, everyday, actually!

  8. Now my mind is wondering to a catalog of men..hmm. Who would be in there?? Hopefully not Carrot Top!

  9. You crack me up! Definitely not entering a store today! (Dishes still in the sink from yesterday.)

Now... no desire to kiss Carrot Top, but I wonder what kissing might inspire me to go near a mall. I mean, if retailers REALLY wanted to encourage certain targeted demographics to venture out we could return to the old-school (and much beloved) "kissing booth" concept. Depending upon who it was (not Carrot Top), it might be worth the crowds...

Hmm. That might make an interesting post.

  10. Does it say something that I am even too lazy to shop virtually today? Probably. I think that I am still in a food coma from yesterday. Fingers are crossed that I will be back to my sprightly and energetic self (ha). Okay, off to go visit Scary Mommy per your instructions.

  11. I refuse to participate in black Friday shopping. The crowds? The noise? THE EARLY MORNING? Heck no. I will stick to my lazy post-Thanksgiving stupor of laying on the couch. And feeding the never-ending appetite of my chilluns. I thought I had a big appetite.

  12. I participated in Black Friday for the first time in my 40-something years, pressured by my daugther who loves to shop. I'm NOT a shopper --the internet is my favorite store. But I had a blast! We were out the door by 5am and finished by 9am. Then we lazed around Barnes and Noble until our early lunch. We're going to make it a yearly tradition.

  13. Call me crazy, but I actually love shopping today--but I attribute that to having family that lives relatively close to King of Prussia mall (second-largest in the US, and largest in retail space!) and it's such a CF that it can be pretty entertaining. I can usually make a dent in shopping (the rest that can be handled via Internet come Sunday/Monday), and then keep everything at the parents' house to be wrapped a few days before Christmas.

I was a little dangerous today, though--perhaps I was still agitated from running from the S to the 2 on Tuesday because I was darting to get to our first store, but once that was secured I was slightly less irritated.

The worst habit that I noticed was people stopping mid-corridor to fiddle with their phones. I easily could have trampled a few people via rear-ending them. Otherwise, it wasn't so bad....

  15. Ah Girlfriend!

I had to work that mess at 5 this morning! I think Andrew was frightened to let me out of the car but I assured him all would be well. I hopped out of the car, waded throught the crowd by yelling "Red and khaki coming through!" I treated myself to a lovely late lunch afta afta at the Landmark, consuming a yummy Chicken Divan crepe, a couple glasses of wine and then a jaunt to the bookstore where I picked up the latest Alice Hoffman.

  16. Kestrel,

I thought of you today when I ambled into the website of Chez Target...and once again, I marvel at how wise and wonderful and balanced you are. Good For You--wine and a nice lunch is the perfect antidote to a crazy morning with Sale Sluts.

Let me know what you think of the new Hoffman...but eh, who are we kiddin'...it's gonna be awesome. xoxo

  19. I always choose online over in person. Because real stores have real people. [shudder]
love that you call Black Friday whores sale sluts. Seriously, what do you need so badly that it's worth 13 hours in line to save $5?

  20. I know, right? You couldn't pay me a kabazillion dollars to wait in line (and freeze me arse off) overnight at Best Buy to save, like, 99 dollars? Way not worth it, people!
